Thank you for choosing to take this unique and thought-provoking course. Career Writing is a method and technique created by Drs Reinekke Lengelle and Frans Meijers that seeks to help us accomplish two things:

  • First, to help understand ourselves as individuals, with our hopes, fears, expectations and assumptions. Because when we really know ourselves deep down, we are healthier and happier in our careers and our lives.
  • Second, Career Writing can bring awareness to the parts of our personal life history that are influencing our current state. To flip that around, when we are aware of the parts of our life history that continue to impact us in our career and personal lives, it becomes easier to make better choices around our commitments through that awareness.

The 52 Career Writing prompts in this course are based on the 52 Career Writing playing cards developed by Dr Reinekke Lengelle in 2015** and designed to bring participants gently into the world of Career Writing, who might not otherwise have access to (or time for) one of the structured, face-to-face Career Writing sessions.

We have redesigned this course to be as flexible as possible, utilizing multiple progression opportunities so that you can choose the right Career Writing journey for you, whether it be the slow drip feed of the 52 Day mindful journey, the quick creative hit of the Random Career Writing Prompt, time travelling perspectives using the Past-Present-Future approach, or one of the other myriad ways to use the Career Writing prompts.

Check out the next topic on “Why do I need Career Writing?” for a more thorough explanation of what is possible in this course.
