We like to keep things simple, so on this page you will find answers to most of your questions about how we price our courses and other common queries.
Membership
Purchasing one of our courses includes:
- One year subscription access to the course
- One year membership access to the community forum for your particular course
- One year subscription membership to the Writing the Self International Community of Practice (ICoP)

Who Should Take an Online Course?
We offer a few different kinds of courses, so you can choose what is right for you:
- Self-paced online courses don’t have any scheduled activities in them, and are ideal for people who want to learn at their own pace.
- Scheduled online courses contain activities and content that have time constraints. For example, our popular 52 writing prompts course makes one new writing prompt available each day for 52 days.
- Live webinars occur online and can involve elements of lecture, interviews, discussion, workshops or question and answers.
- Individual / One-on-one coaching sessions are conducted in Zoom meetings at pre-arranged times.
How Do I Access My Course?
Once you register and pay the course fee, you can access the course by logging in. The course will be listed in your profile.
Are There Prerequisites or Language Requirements?
Although we recommend taking at least one of our Writing the Self courses before coming to one of our Self-Connection writing retreats, there are no formal pre-requisites or language requirements to take our courses.
We do suggest a working knowledge of English or Dutch to get the most benefit from our courses.
Can I Take More than One Course at a Time?
You can take as many courses at the same time as you want.
My Payment Did Not Go Through. What Do I Do?
Wait another 24 hours and try again. Occasionally our Stripe payment gateway will be down for maintenance. If it still doesn’t work, please contact us.
How Does Online Learning Work?
Online learning can take many forms, some of which are described earlier in this FAQ. Basically, instead of sitting in a classroom listening to a lecture, as an online learner you engage with learning materials and activities through your computer.
What if I have technical problems?
If you have technical problems in the course, please contact us right away and we will make every effort to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
